In 2000, she contended Miss Indian and ended up as a runner up and in the same year, she was crowned Miss World 2000. She commenced her career in acting by making her debut in the Tamil film Thamizhan. In 2003, she made her debut in the Bollywood film The Hero: Love Story of a Spy in which she played the lead role of Dr. Shaheen Zakaria.
In 2010, she hosted the TV Show Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi season 3. She got the lead role of Alex Parrish in the American TV series Quantico in 2015. From this show, she received huge fame. Later she worked in the Hollywood film Baywatch.
